Happy Birthday to Me.

January 6, 2011
by Rachel Elizabeth

Hello there grown up Rachel and all the other grown ups,

It’s me your former self reminding you to not take yourself too seriously. Life is supposed to be fun, exciting, and hilarious! Get out of that 24th birthday rut, you old fossil, you look great!

Remember your fourth birthday when mom made you a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and hand-affixed M+Ms one-by-one to cover the whole thing? FUN! Remember your 6th when you got a new little sister 11 days later? EXCITING! Remember going to DisneyWorld for your tenth with Shannon and the dads and wearing those hideous hats and sweaters acquired at the park gift shop? HILARIOUS.

If you’re not happy with something, ANYTHING, take this opportunity to make it better. No one is looking out for your happiness but you. This is your life! Do what you love and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! Stop over analyzing because life is simple. Every emotion is beautiful, Every bite of food is delicious. Enjoy it. Stop Worrying. Hug more. Travel often and don’t be afraid to get lost. (That’s when you’ll find yourself.) After all, life should be a big adventure–not about figuring out who you are but about creating yourself. Create something great.

Oh, and Happy Birthday.
